Benoit, Gladys Elizabeth, age 91
of Antigonish, formerly of Pomquet passed away peacefully in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital on August 20,
2021.
Born in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Lavin and
Anita Myette.
Gladys was a small but feisty lady who was dedicated to her
family. They were her whole world! You could often
find Gladys rocking in her rocking chair watching « Cops » or
wrestling and eating her favourite hard candies. Known fondly
as the « little lady with the walker » around Antigonish, she
could often be seen making her daily trips to the Tim Hortons on East
Main or « heading upstairs » at the JJ Carroll house to hang
out with her friends. Gladys was always willing to lend a helping hand
and was beloved by all around her.
She is survived by her daughters: Anita Tulk, Antigonish;
Helen (Bill) McGibbon, New Glasgow; sons: Jimmy (Linda), Pomquet;
Charlie (Pat), Pomquet; Eugene (Angela), Lower South River; Joey
(Jennifer), Pomquet; sisters: Shirley DeCoste, Tracadie; Rose Marie,
Halifax; brothers: John, Toronto; Donnie, Tracadie; son in law, Rick
Bouchard; many grandchildren, including her two special angels Caitlin
and Danielle, as well as great grandchildren and a great-great
grandchild.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Joseph; daughters,
Mary and Sherry and two children in infancy; brothers: Alfred, Chester
and Leo; son in law, Bill Tulk.
Visitation will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College
Street, Antigonish on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A
private funeral Mass will be held in Ste. Croix Church, Pomquet.
Burial in Ste Croix Cemetery.
