Gertrude Lillian Whitney, wife of the late Ernest Whitney of Losier Hall, Miramichi and formerly of Whitney, NB, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the age of 95. Born in Whitney, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Allison) Ford. Gertrude was a kind and gentle women who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she was a member of St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church, Sunny Corner, NB, member of the Whitney Willing Workers and former post mistress in Whitney.
Gertrude is survived by: daughters: June Tozer (Brent) of Whitney, NB; Arlene Sherrard (Blake) of Sunny Corner, NB; sister: Annie Whitney (Edgar) of Riverview, NB; brother: Harvey Ford (Rita) of Westville, NS; grandchildren: Cara Gilmore (Matthew), Melissa Sisk (Brody) and Travis Sherrard; great grandchildren: Samuel, William, Gabriel, Brendan, Lillian and Hudson.
Besides her parents and husband, Gertrude is predeceased by: infant son: Harry Whitney (1949) and brothers: Henry (Eugenia) Ford and Hubert Ford.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Monday, June 7, 2021 from 7-9 PM. A private Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tom Ettinger officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Cemetery.
