Our mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
Born September 12, 1917, in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Minnie (MacNeil) MacInnis.
Mom, one of ten children, grew up in Glace Bay and moved to Louisbourg in 1944 when she married her late husband, Cletus, who passed away in 1987, but was present in her home to this day. They had three children, daughters, Marie (Gerald) Barron and Leona (the late Robert) MacIntyre and a son, Fred (Diane).
Mom was a deeply caring person who loved and protected her family. Mom taught us, not just the book learning, she taught us values – to love – which she shared with us in abundance and she taught us respect – to respect everyone and their way of life. Mom found good in everyone. She was a religious person, spending many hours praying and had a “Saint” to pray to for most occasions – guidance, strength, protection, lost items – which we kept her busy doing.
Our Mother lived for 104 years and she has a family that iswas very fortunate to have had her for support, direction and most of all love. We will miss you.
In addition to her children, Mom is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Jeff, Lindsay (Jimmy), Chris, Deanna (Desmond), Denise (Stephen), Charleen (Jack), Craig (Shelley) and Mark (Richelle) and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew and Bryan, Ella and Brooke, Kayla, and Clayton (Heather), Heather and Mella.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Cletus and one great-grandchild. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was also predeceased by her sisters, Frances Hamill, Betty Brocki and Mary Cashen and brothers, Alex, John, Leo, Michael, Fraser and Thomas.
A funeral service will be held in Sydney Memorial Chapel on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Lamey officiating.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Cove Guest Home. You provided our Mother with wonderful care and compassion for which we are very grateful.
