Gertrude Diane « Gertie » Redden
1948-2021
Gertrude Diane « Gertie » Redden – age 72,
of Hatchet Lake, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on
Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at home. Born in Kentville, she was a
daughter of the late Sandrew « Sandy » and Gertrude Dolena
« Dolly » (Williams) Hiltz. Spending quality time with her
family always came first for Gertie and she made everyone around her
feel very special, loved and appreciated. She was a lover of the
outdoors and spending time in the sun at the beach with her family.
She also had a passion for home design and decor. She will be greatly
missed by all who knew and loved her, and we know that her radiant
spirit will live on in all of us, especially through her
granddaughter, Haleigh. She is survived by daughter, Lisa (Sean)
Gillis, Hatchet Lake; son, Scott (Karlie) Redden, Hatchet Lake;
granddaughter, Haleigh Gillis, at home; sisters, Doris Schofield (Bob
Baker), Kentville; Rebecca Larlee, Lower Sackville; Rose (Ray)
Rousseau, Aylesford; brothers, Sherwin (Betty), North Alton, David
(Marilyn), North Alton; Danny, East LaHave; nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, Doug, Ernest and
Garnet. Cremation has taken and there will be no visitation, by
request. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions,
services will be held at a later date. Donations in memory may be made
to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
