Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the Geraldine (Estey) Barrie announces her passing which occurred on January 11th, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on November 8th, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Hilda (Mitchell) Estey.
Geraldine was a strong independent and feisty lady who worked hard to provide for her family. She worked most of her life in Retail and was known for her “fashion sense”. Her last job was with the Corps Commissionaires before she retired. She volunteered at the Regional Hospital, and with other charitable organizations. She loved to spend time at her cottage on Kennebecasis Island where she visited with friends, played cards, spent time at the beach kayaking, took long walks with her fur friend Yogie and worked in her beautiful garden.
Geraldine was a proud and devoted member of Full Gospel Assembly Church and their “Spice of Life” group. She was also a member of the “Kingston Pearls” and “Millidgeville Seniors Group”.
Geraldine is survived by her loving children Cynthia (Glen) Jackson, Frank (Bev) Barrie and Kirk Barrie, brother Oscar (Doreen) Estey, grandchildren; Luke, Joshua, Kaylah, Jillian, and Ryker, great grandchildren Noa, Jacob, Jessi, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with her parents, Geraldine was preceded by her brother David Estey, her sisters; Rosina Clifford and Audrey Estey, bother-in-law George Clifford, and nephew David Clifford.
The Family of Geraldine would like to thank some very special nurses of 3A North at the Saint John Regional Hospital, for your compassion and wonderful care of our mom.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Geraldine’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Geraldine May be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
