GEORGIOS REPOULIS
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our much-loved father Georgios Repoulis on December 22, 2021 at the age of 91. Georgios was devastated by the loss of his beloved wife Paraskevi “Voula” less than two months ago after a 68 year marriage. Georgios did not want to carry on without his cherished Voula and kept saying he needed to go be with “his girl”. Georgios is survived by his adoring children Michael, Vasili (Eva) and Despina (Salvatore), his treasured grandchildren Elliot, Leah (Rafi), Joseph, Phillip, Julia, Georgia, Alex, and predeceased by George, as well as his precious great-grandchildren Levi, Yael and Noam. He is predeceased by his two sisters, Marika and Athena (Stavros). He is survived by his many nieces and nephews in Greece, Regina and Germany.
Georgios lived an adventurous life starting in Soufli, Greece. He joined the naval academy at the age of 18 and was stationed in Thessaloniki and then in Crete. While in Thessaloniki, he met the beautiful and vivacious Voula who would steal his heart. Georgios was a handsome naval officer and they made a beautiful couple. After getting married they moved to Athens where they had Michael and Vasili. They then moved to South Africa in 1963 where they both worked in the fur industry, as well as running a very successful restaurant. There they had their third child Despina. They decided to move to Canada in 1973 where Voula’s brother Argiri resided with his family in Regina. In search of a larger city, they decided to move to Toronto in 1974 where again, Georgios worked in the fur industry, usually side-by-side with his beloved Voula. In 1980 Georgios and Voula opened their own fur store called “Voula’s Furs”.
Georgios was a kind and loving man and everyone that met him would always comment that “Mr. Georgios is a real gentleman!”. But, he also had a mischievous side; he’d love to tease his wife and joke around with his grandchildren, grinning playfully all the while. Georgios loved to travel with Voula to Greece where they would spend summers in Kavala, swimming daily and sitting on their balcony overlooking the beautiful Aegean Sea.
The family would like to thank the numerous doctors and nurses that provided such wonderful and compassionate care for him over many years, including Mackenzie Health Hospital and everyone associated with the Home and Community Care Services in Richmond Hill.
Services are to be held at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church, 11323 Warden Ave, Markham at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021, with a viewing between 1:00 and 1:30 pm that same day. Services will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Friends and family are invited to share their words of comfort and remembrance at www.marshallfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
