George’s Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Levi (George) Drake announce his peaceful passing at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre in Stephenville Crossing, NL, at the age of 76. He leaves to mourn daughter Tammy Musseau of Corner Brook, son Daniel Drake of Stephenville. He also leaves his long time friend Nora Musseau and stepdaughters Holly Musseau and Nikki (Dylan Payne) of Stephenville. George also had his grandchildren Courtney (Poppy’s Peach)(Colby Lillington) Morgan (Poppy’s Princess)(Dryden Walters) and Paige (Poppy’s Puddin’) all of Corner Brook, along with stepgrandchildren Jackson, Francis, Lily, and Christopher all of Stephenville. He also leaves sisters Ida Jane of Pools Cove, NL, Velma Pittman of Catalina, NL, Isabella (Raymond O’Neill) and Laura (Alexander Thornhill) both of Lower Sackville, NS , brothers Frank (Tootsie) of Stephenville, NL, Russell of Red Cliff, NL, Jim (Laura) of Port aux Basques, NL, Garfield (Marg) of Cape Ray, NL, and Bob of Dartmouth, NS, plus countless nieces and nephews and many friends.
George was predeceased by his parents, Stanley and Corella Drake, of Lally Cove, NL, daughter Arthesa Drake, brother Orlando Tibbo, sister Marion Woodland, sisters-in-law Lilly Tibbo, Susan Drake, and Rosemary Drake, brothers – in – law Nathan Crews, David Williams and Maxwell Pittman.
George was a man in every sense of the word. He loved hunting and fishing, and often said his dream home would be a boat on the open sea. He loved to visit his family and friends as much as he could, and loved to play his accordion and write poems and riddles in his spare time. He was a pillar of strength to everyone who knew him, but truly was a teddy bear inside. He will be greatly missed and remembered for years to come.
Following his wishes, cremation will take place.
