Arnold – George Joseph Jr.
It is with deep sadness that the family of George Arnold Jr. announces his passing on June 6, 2021 in his 84th year. George was the heart of our family, a man born of the land who cherished every moment spent cutting wood, hauling gravel, tending gardens and raising his family with his beloved wife Leona. He spent his last afternoon tinkering in the garage and puttering around the family property.George was born November 20, 1937 in Sudbury, Ontario. George is predeceased by his father, George Arnold Sr., his mother, Mary (Levare) Arnold , and step-mother, Aline (Lajeunesse) Arnold, his son, Glen Arnold and his daughter-in-law, Nancy (Bodenham) Arnold. He will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Leona (Lanthier) Arnold, his sons Wayne Arnold (Kimberly) of Elliot Lake, Dean Arnold of McKerrow and Lance Arnold (Kristin Meekes) of Ottawa and his precious daughter, Mary-Lynn Irven, also of Ottawa. He is survived by his brothers Brian Arnold (Lorraine) of McKerrow, Len Arnold (Lynn) of Summerside, PEI and Harold Arnold (Dolores) of Sudbury, Ontario.George’s heart was also full of love for his grandchildren, Bailey, Jackson, Callum, Sarah Rose, Katherine, Connor, Alice and Maggie. George graduated from Espanola High School and then attended the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) in Guelph where he made great friendships that were fostered thoughout his life.George retired as shift engineer after serving for 34 years at KVP Company, Brown Forest Industries, E.B. Eddy Forest Products, and Domtar in Espanola. He was a faithful member of the Paroisse St. Jude Parish family. He will be remembered for his work ethic and being able to fix almost anything. He loved a good joke, his pets Bruin and Spunk and was unwavering in his support of his family through both triumph and foible. He took tremendous pride in his home and property and made it a welcoming place to family, friends and strangers alike. He was a strong supporter of the Royal Canadian Legion and Espanola Minor Hockey during his kids years playing hockey and even served as referee-in-chief for numerous terms. His strong gentility and guidance will be sorely missed.Funeral services will take place at Paroisse St Jude Parish in Espanola, Ontario on Friday June 11, 2021 and will be followed by internment in the Espanola Cemetery afterwards. Unfortunately, due to Covid protocols, attendance is by invitation only.If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 39 in Espanola.
