George Ernest Smith went home to join his Lord and Saviour at Bayfield Manor on Wednesday March 3/2021 at the age of 86.
George was born the oldest son of Charles and Nola Smith in 1934 in Park Hill, Ontario. The family then moved to Hamilton where George was soon joined by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He is predeceased by his brothers Jack and Bill and by his sisters Maria and Debbie.
George met his wife Lois Frost in Oakville, Ontario in 1953 and they married September 25th, 1954 and had 3 children; Wayne (Diana), Gregg (Suzan) and Donna (Allan). He is greatly loved by his grandchildren Derek (Kim), Stephen (Cathy), Shannon (Shannon), Leigh (Rob) and great grandchildren Vanessa and Peyton, Aaron and Nathan and Aray and Ryder.
George served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 38 years and retired as a MWO. He served in several locations in Canada and overseas.
George was an active member of the Kemptville Christian Reformed Church for over 50 years and was also an avid golfer and was a member of Rideau Glen Golf Course for many years. George also enjoyed skiing and travelling.
There will be a private service (due to COVID) held at the Kemptville Christian Reformed Church. Spring Interment South Gower Cemetery.
