George passed away peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital at the age of 90 years. Loving father to Nicole McCrank, father-in-law to Glen and loving grandfather to Alana, Michael and Kevin. Step-father to Gerald Ménard (Faye) and Suzanne Ménard (Ron). Step-grandfather to Lori Séguin, Lisa Pike, Michelle Séguin, Marc Robidoux, Mecca and Milar Ménard. He is survived by his sister, Suzanne Champagne (late Guy), Ridal (late Cyril), and sister-in-law, Dora Charbonneau. Predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Thérèse Dicaire and second wife Thérèse Ménard and by step-son Michel Ménard. George was born in Cornwall, and was the second youngest child of Henri and Alice Charbonneau. Predeceased by siblings, Jean-Paul (Antoinette), André ( Alexandrine), Edmond (Béatrice), Thérèse Patenaude ( Jean-Paul), Rollande Crites (George) Claudia, Lucille Cléroux (Léo) and Robert. He was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews as well as great grand-nieces and-nephews. George had a successful 40 year career with Howard Smith Paper Mill, that became Domtar Fine Papers and retired as a Line Leader in the Finishing Room. During holidays, he enjoyed many bus tours to Québec with many fun activities. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed music, and loved playing cards and Mexican train. When he retired, he joined the Centre Charles Emile Claude where he participated in many activities with friends. One of these was line dancing which led to a new pursuit, that of a line dancing instructor! He taught until the age of 85 and was greatly admired and appreciated for his teaching skills. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. A Visitation with controlled attendance will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home (Boulerice Centre), 218 Montreal Rd. (613-938-3888) on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 7-9 pm and on Tuesday from 9am -10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Felix Catholic Church, 620 Glengarry Blvd., Cornwall on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11 am. Interment will follow in the Nativity Cemetery, Cornwall. Those who wish to attend the controlled attendance visitation or the Funeral Mass must call the Funeral Home Monday-Friday between 9 am – 5 pm to register your attendance. Those who wish to view the Funeral Service live online may do so at the following link www.facebook.com/kavproductions/live beginning on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
