A special thank you to Best of Care employees for taking such good care of her which allowed her to stay in her home for as long as she did. To the nurses and staff on Unit 3 of the Lions Manor, Placentia who went above and beyond to make “nan” comfortable in her last 5 years. She loved you guys dearly. To Dr. Power, Unit 1 and the Palliative care team for your kindness and consideration for mom and her family in her final days.
Thank you to everyone who sent special messages and prayers during this difficult time. Your kindness did not go unnoticed.
Genevieve along with her husband Allan opened their home to anyone and everyone who needed it. If you needed a meal or a place to sleep, you were welcomed with open arms. Together they took in over 46 foster children who they loved and cared for as their own. The amount of people who stayed while they worked in the area would be too many to count. They lived by the motto “Don’t Be Cold, Dirty or Hungry” They didn’t have a lot of materialistic things to give but they opened their home to everyone who needed one making sure nobody left “Cold, Dirty or Hungry.” They were both special people who made the world a much better place.
« A mother’s love is a blessing and we were more than blessed ».
Due to the current Covid-19 Restrictions, cremation has taken place. A mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. If so desired, donations in Genevieve’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
