In Loving Memory of Gavin Holly Anderson
December 7, 1960 – January 23, 2021
It is with great sorrow that we say goodbye to a son, brother, father, mentor, leader and friend. Holly passed away unexpectedly on January 23, 2021.
Holly was born in Fort Nelson, BC and raised in the Dawson Creek area. He grew up on a farm in the Lakeview District. He was the youngest of 4 Boys. He learned to work hard being on the farm. They had every animal imaginable, which led Holly to be in 4-H. He grew up around machinery and helped with the everyday tasks of working the land for hay and harvest. We knew that Holly was going to be mechanically inclined when he rebuilt his first motor at the age of 15. Holly went to school in the Dawson Creek area and graduated from SPSS in 1978. Right out of High School he went to work for Terry Roberts at Northern Diesel. Shortly there after Holly packed up and moved to the sunny Okanagan and soon after formed his own very successful business “ Thompson Valley Diesel” that he operated for 32 years. He had a vast customer base from all over that would send their pumps, turbos, motors, etc. to be repaired. He had a great reputation as a Diesel Technician. Holly also had a passion for Hotrods. He had an amazing talent for resurrecting older vehicles to their former glory, but his Pride and Joy was his Bright Yellow 29 ES, which he built from the ground up. Holly lived in Kamloops for many years and then moved himself and eventually his business to the North Shore of Shuswap Lake. Holly’s life was complete when he became a father to MacKenzie and Amanda. They were his World! He joined the Celista Fire Department as a volunteer and worked his way up to be Deputy Fire Chief. Holly was a valued and highly respected member of the fire department. He made many friends and treated everyone like family and would help out whenever he could. Holly enjoyed hanging out with his friends around the campfire having a good time and also taking time to listen. He was the life of the Party! Holly will be missed!
Holly is survived by his daughters MacKenzie and Amanda, his Parents John & Fern Anderson, his brothers Dean(Marsha), Doug(Wanda) and Dorian(Kathy) and will be remembered by many Nieces, Nephews, great nieces and nephews and many Uncles, Aunts and Cousins.
We will mourn his loss and will celebrate his life at a future date when we can safely come together again.
Private Family arrangements have been made.
