Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Garnet Ralph Sears announces his passing, which occurred on Friday, November 12, 2021, at the Sus Health Centre. Born in Westmorland, N.B., on March 29, 1939, he was a son of the late Cedric and Olive (Kaye) Sears.
Garnet was an avid outdoorsman, woodworker and jack-of-all-trades. As a young man he worked at Atlantic Sugar Refinery while making plans to become an entrepreneur. He owned several businesses and was proud of his successful 38 year career as a Pizza Delight franchisee in Saint John.
Garnet is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor Sears; sons Kevin (Beth), Ivan (Margo), Timothy, Douglas, and James Sears; daughters Patricia Saunders (Danny), Lisa Baxter (Tim), and Vanessa Sears; Brothers Weldon Hicks, Bernard and Frankie Sears; sisters Carolyn Leblanc, Donna Wells, Gertrude Wheaton, Margaret Hicks, Dolly Fillmore, Marlene Hicks, and Debbie Arsenault; as well as our cherished friends Galen and Esther Keirstead, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Aside from his parents, Garnet is predeceased by his first wife Beryl (Keirstead) Sears; brothers Vaughan Kaye, Perry and Tommy Sears; sisters Lillian Neal and Yuvonne Sears.
Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424). Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the Fundy Chapel on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Due to Covid restrictions, all in attendance must provide identification and vaccination record. For those who wish, donations in Garnet’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
