Obituary for
Gabrielle-Ange Savoie
January 31, 2003- August 17, 2021
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gabrielle-Ange Hope Savoie « Bérubé » on August 17, 2021 at the age of 18 years young.
Our beautiful girl could light up a room with a simple smile. She had the biggest heart, she loved naturally and generously. When she loved someone, it was with all of her being.
In her short 18 years around the sun, Gabby lived an incredible life. She was an accomplished BMX racer with Airdrie BMX, an excellent snowboarder, she attained the rank of Sargent with the Airdrie 88 Linx Air Cadets. Gabby enjoyed swimming, kayaking, hiking, basketball, and volleyball with École francophone d’Airdrie. Gabrielle had talents that she enjoyed sharing with others, her love for the arts gained her the talents of her grandmother and great-grandmother.
Gabby was fierce and courageous; she dove into everything headfirst and had no fear. When our little unicorn fell, she got right back up and tried again. When she crashed her bike, she found a way to get back on.
Gabby enjoyed exploring and adventuring. She has travelled extensively, she surfed the beaches of Tofino, skied the mountains of Alberta and BC, she snorkeled the shores of Mexico and raced her BMX in Belgium at world competitions as part of Team Canada. She climbed mountains and saw the views atop the Eiffel tower.
What made our baby so special was the way she made others feel. She knew how to love without conditions, without judgement. She made friends everywhere she went, and she always left a lasting impression.
She was the little girl who loved to wear a dress to run through the forest, she would bait her own hook, pick frogs, and crack jokes. She felt at ease in almost any environment.
Gabby loved her family and had an extra special place in her heart for her siblings. When her brother was born, she had wanted another sister but did not skip a beat in her enthusiasm and embrace of her brand-new baby. Gabby looked out for and protected her baby brother fiercely, even as he became taller than her.
Our beautiful soul lived a full life surrounded by love and accomplishments. She will be missed and cherished by all who were blessed by her presence in their life.
She will be greatly missed by her mother Angélique Bérubé (Savoie) and her loving father Derek Bérubé. She leaves behind her best friend and brother Caleb Bérubé and sister Kristyn Lafrance.
She will be missed by her grandparents Lucie Savoie (Poirier) and François Savoie of Valley East. Sadly missed by her uncle Alain Savoie (Lisa) and his daughter Mélodie.
Missed by her great-grandparents Gisèle Chartrand and Alfred, mémère Line Byram (Bérubé), grandpa Joel Gallant, Papi Stanley Byram, grand-grandmaman Mildred Galland (Aubé) and arrière-mémère Dolorèse Bérubé (Dionne), aunt Jeannie Tremblay (Bérubé), uncle Troy Tremblay and their sons Ethan and Rylan as well as by her birth father Derek Chartrand, Nana Ida Lavigne and Auntie Arlena Lavigne.
She will remain forever in the hearts of her loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and large extended family and many friends including her person, Hannah.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 4570 St-Joseph St., Hanmer on Sunday, August 22, 2021 from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wearing of masks is mandatory and social distancing is required.
There will be a CELEBRATION OF LIFE on Monday, August 23, 2021 in Val Caron. Bring your bathing suits and sandals, we want to enjoy the things Gabrielle loved: swimming, kayaking and food. Family and friends are welcome after 1 p.m. Hosted by François and Lucie Savoie
