G. Edward Backman
After a long and full life, it is with profound sadness the
family of G. Edward Backman of Greenfield, Queens Co, N.S. announces
his passing on November 22, 2021.
Born January 20, 1936,
died November 22, 2021. After 85 years he was called home. He was
ready for his next journey. Born and raised in Lunenburg, he was the
eldest of three children, born to Capt. Aubrey & Mary Backman.
Educated at Lunenburg Academy & the Canadian Police College in
Halifax. He worked as a constable for the Halifax Regional Police
Department, then moved on to Berwick as their Chief of Police, lastly
he worked for the N.S. Government. He was a 32 degree Mason for 50
years and moved on to retirement in the place of his dreams: Little
Ponhook Lake, Greenfield, Queens Co, N.S.
He is
survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marion, sisters Annie Mae
Waterbury, Bridgewater, & Maryanne Gale, Mahone Bay. Daughters
Elana (Ian) Wentzell, East LaHave, & Elizabeth Backman, Little
Ponhook Lake. Granddaughters Allison (Jonathan) Duggan, Pine Grove,
Emily (Nathan Rhodenizer) Backman, Shelburne, & Cara Wentzell,
New Cumberland. Great Grandchildren Adrian, Talia & many
nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by
twin children, Allan & Alana.
Cremation has taken
place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, on
Little Ponhook Lake.

Foundation, or any charity of your choice.
