DOVIGI, Frederick “Fred” – It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Fred at his home on Monday, February 8, 2021 at the age of 71. Proud father of Kristina Clayton (Rob) and Patrick (Fernanda). Loving papa to Gabriella, Ben, Jordan, Audrey, Savannah, Sebastian & Jorgia. Son of the late Gino & Yolanda (Mandatori). Brother of Richard (Nancy) & Doris Pszeniczny (Nick). Brother-in-law to Peter Niro (late Gail) & Frankie Niro. Special uncle to Kevin Dovigi (Melissa), Christopher Dovigi (Phylicia), Kelly Leith (Gary), Brian Pszeniczny (Melissa), Jamie Pszeniczny (Lauren), Christopher Niro & Tiffany Niro (Josh) and cherished great uncle of 6. Fred will be missed by his special friend and partner Rosemarie Volpe & furry friend Stella. He is survived by his aunts Norma Sorrentino, Margaret Bennett and Helen Thibodeau and will also be remembered by his children’s mother Mary, several cousins and close friends.
Fred was a popular business teacher at Lakeway, Bawating and Korah Collegiate high schools where he influenced and inspired many students in both their academic and athletic pursuits. He had a keen interest in politics at all levels and served on both the Children’s Aid Society and City Council as a ward 4 alderman for many years. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching and supporting the Soo Greyhounds during the winter months.
