Frank McLennan Ells
1936-2021
Frank McLennan Ells – 85, of
Kentville, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 in the Valley
Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Glenmont, he was a son of the
late Clarence and Dorothy (Parker) Ells. Frank worked in the
commercial fishing industry for over 40 years, owning and operating
his own vessel. His passion was music, and he was well known for
playing the dobro at many bluegrass festivals. Frank was a member of
the Steel Guitar Club of Eastern Canada, Bluegrass Association-
Annapolis Valley Chapter, and Friends of Hank Snow Society. Frank is
survived by his wife of 66 years, Jessie (Wallace); daughters, Crystal
Ells, Kentville; Tina Ells, Chilliwack, BC; daughter-in-law, Carolyn
Ells, Aylesford; sons, Garnet, New Minas; Jamie, Kentville;
grandchildren, Tarissa Holmes, Dylan Ells, Kari Ells, Kyle Ells; great
grandchildren, Brooklynn Ells, Chevy Simon; sisters, Mary MacDonald,
Moncton, NB and Isabelle Steele, Canning; brothers, Howard Rogers,
Canning; Russell Rogers, Pubnico; half-sisters, Mary (Floyd) DeAdder,
Truro; Doreen Rogers, Cambridge, ON; half-brothers, John Scott, Lester
Scott and Bill Scott, all of PEI; many nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by son, Terry; brothers-in-law, Charles MacDonald and
Truman Steele; sisters-in-law, Doris Rogers and Lorraine French.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request.
A celebration of life will be held between 12-4 p.m. in the
Baxter’s Harbour Community Hall. Those attending are welcome
to bring an instrument. All COVID-19 regulations and restrictions will
be followed. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of
one’s choice. Arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
