Obituary of Evelyn Marie Pettipas
Evelyn was born in Stellarton, on June 21st,1921 to the late Eva(Andrea) and David Lipton. She was predeceased by her husband (Alvin Pettipas) of 65 years, and together they raised 12 children. Mom never told Dad she planned to have 12 children (6 girls and 6 boys) but he did not seem to mind and together, they were the best parents in the whole world. Mom was a very good listener, so caring and kind to everyone, even the strangers who knocked on our door looking for a bite to eat. She led a very busy life, did a lot of hard work but never complained because « any job worth doing is worth doing well » and she taught us all well in every respect. Mom loved to skate, when young they would skate on the East River from Stellarton to Pictou. She liked to bowl and she and Dad loved to sing. They belonged to the Heritage Group in Westville for many years and bowled and sang with them at many of the Nursing homes in the area.
We all remember Mom waking us up in the morning, singing « You are my Sunshine » or Good morning, good morning to you »

We would like to thank the staff at Valley View Villa for being Mom’s second family. She loved living there and said the girls were so good to her and of course, Brian who made her laugh often. While at the Villa Mom studied and graduated. She was Valedictorian of her class and she surprised them and sang « My best to you »
Thank you girls for your terrific care the few days Mom was in the palliative care unit. You were gentle and so considerate, we will always remember this.
Arrangements are under the care of Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. Mom will be cremated and there will be a Funeral Mass and celebration at a later date.
