Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyne Jean Burns of Sechelt announces her passing in Sechelt, BC, October, 9, 1921 at the age of 83 after a battle with cancer.
Evelyne is survived by her daughters Elizabeth Swan and Michelle Burns and by her younger sister Ethel-Mae Seaman (nee Marrs) of Goderich, Ontario. Evelyne is also survived by cousins on Vancouver Island.
She was born Evelyne Jean Marrs to the late Thomas Marrs and Grace Marrs (nee Shaw) in Nanaimo, BC. She graduated nursing at Vancouver General Hospital in 1960 and received a BA in Political Science at the University of Western Ontario, London in 1979.
She married the late Richard Clive Swan in 1962. They lived in Mission, BC and Montreal. After Richard’s passing she married the late Kenneth Robert Burns. They lived in Owen Sound, London and Sudbury, Ontario.
Evelyn was a lifelong nurse, nursing teacher as well as spending 20 years with the Canadian National Institute for the Blind in northeastern Ontario. She was an avid reader with a quirky sense of humour and a love of British murder mysteries.
A small family gathering will take place for the burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens in the village of Cedar, south of Nanaimo.
