Obituary for Evangeline Rose Yellow Fly (Many Goods)
It is with great, profound sadness that the family of Evangeline Rose Yellow Fly announces her passing after a lengthy battle with cancer that was in remission, however, sadly further complicated by covid 19. Surrounded by loving family and relatives, Effie passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 28th, 2021 at the Young at Heart age of 59.
Our Dear Evangeline known as Effie, was a very kind-hearted, compassionate, and gentle woman who was always willing to help anyone; especially family and relatives; and was especially fond of her nephews and nieces. Effie was that Dear Auntie that became the 2nd Mom or Momtie, as she was an auntie/mom to many of her nephews and nieces.
Effie raised her cherished daughter Darcel and she was also instrumental in raising her precious grandchildren, Ainsley, December, Reid, Toby and also her great-nephews & nieces Kayden, Brylee, Keira, Lainey, Lackey, Lorilee and her God Children Shane Yellowfly and Marlin Running Rabbit, all of whom she loved and she fought her hardest to stay in this world for them. The time spent with them was always fun, exciting, loving memories that will forever live in their hearts.
Our Dear Sister Effie is an Angel now and her time spent on earth was so precious to her, she had a peaceful life and avoided any negative situations, rather she turned to traditional prayers, smudging, participating in the Holy Sundance, and her catholic faith. Effie lived to her true authentic self, who did her own thing and helped others along the way, never complaining or getting upset, she was truly an Angel blessed to us all and for that, we are truly grateful.
Effie, is lovingly going to be remembered and survived by her Dad Noel Yellowfly, Sisters; Floria (LuLu) Duck Chief, Marion (Joy), Polly, Debbie, Sally, and Brother Eugene. Special Auntie/Mom Virginia Medicine Traveller, Aunties Liz (Alvin) Big Crow, Ethel Medicine Traveller, Uncle Jerry Black Horse Adopted Sisters and Brothers; Esther Running Rabbit, Brenda Red Crow, Reynold Medicine Traveller.
Effie’s passion for education was important to her, which led her to her educational endeavors of graduating from highschool, then to a private vocational college where she graduated as a certified professional accountant, she then went on to obtain certification in other numerous areas that led to many doors of opportunity open to her for careers choices. Effie’s trade of choice led her to custodial work, as she described this as the least stressful position, where she felt appreciated by all of whom she worked with. For sure we know that Effie would have been right in there as a Frontline worker as her compassion to help others surely shined through daily, even right up to the day she passed.
Effie lovingly joins her family in Heaven, her Dear Mother Marina Yellowfly, Grandparents; Teddy & Jane Yellow Fly, Rosie & Charlie Cutter, Tom & MinnieTwo Horns, Peter Black Horse, Great Grandparents; Boychief & Elsie Boychief (Many Goods), Leland Edwards, Bradley Black Horse, Gina Solway and other relatives over the past years.
Effie’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the Staff of Sagewood (AgeCare), Bethany Care centers and to the Siksika Home Care Staff – Cheryl Sorensen, Toni Running Rabbit, Kristen Smith for their compassion and professional in caring for our Dear Effie.
