Eva’s Obituary
HAEGHAERT, Eva Carolyn, 91 of Port Clyde passed away peacefully on August 26, 2021. Eva was born in New Port, New York on June 5, 1930. She was the youngest of 4 daughters of Webster Robert Harris and Kathryn Mowers Harris. In 1986 Eva and husband Maurice, “Mo” (deceased) sold their family home in Sag Harbor, NY and headed up to Nova Scotia where Maurice was born to enjoy their golden years. They bought a beautiful home in Port Clyde where they enjoyed several years running their home as a Bed & Breakfast during the summer months. Eva and Mo spent most of their winters in Florida with family and friends. Eva enjoyed the company of her B & B guests, and she was pleased to offer them her evening “Mug-Up” and served her favorite blueberry grunt or rhubarb pie when her guests returned from sightseeing. Eva always kept several of her prized candy dishes filled with an array of hard candies she would buy from the Bulk Barn for her guests to enjoy. Eva was also fond of her collection of cow creamers she accumulated through the years as they were perfectly displayed on the shelving in her kitchen. Eva’s closest friends and family know of her passion and remarkable talent for knitting/crocheting and sewing. Shortly after moving to Nova Scotia “Mo” brought her home a little ram lamb which she named “Orlon”. It wasn’t long after when she got a ewe lamb she named “Polly Ester”. They became a bit of an attraction at the B & B. Eva’s home was filled with her beautiful creations from curtains to afghans, countless sweaters, dolls, bears and needlework. She was always eager and quick to knit/crochet a granny square afghan, sweater (Fisherman Knit was her favorite), or a baby’s sweater set complete with a bonnet for gift giving for those near and dear to her. Eva was truly an angel on earth, and she was adored by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
Eva is survived by her three loving children, sons Peter (Joy Williams) and James, and daughter Amy (David) Vincelli. Eva lovingly known as Grammy has five grandchildren, Brittany (Kyle) Zimmerman, Peter, Josh, Eliza and Nathan; and she was blessed with three great-granddaughters; Bianca Eva, Blake & Blaise and great-grandson Castiel. She is also survived by Joy’s children Angeliou, Luke and Jackie.
Arrangements are under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. As per Eva’s wishes there will be no formal funeral service at this time.
