It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Tibbo, 75 of Northwest, announces her passing on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.
Born in English Harbour West, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Velma (Fizzard) Osbourne.
Ethel was a hard working person who started her working career at the Sunny Cottage in Harbour Breton, Nfld. and after moving to Lunenburg worked several years at the Fish Net Diner and in the Laundry services at Bluenose Mini Mart where she was known for her pristine work.
Ethel beared the sweetest name, “Mother”. Her heart was always full of love for her family. She was a wife, a friend, a sister, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. She showed us all strength and devotion and taught us how to be kind, how to laugh and most importantly, how to Love.
She enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking and baking, loved flowers and gardening with our dad. She enjoyed visits from grandchildren and loved to shop and decorate for the holidays, her favourite being Easter. She loved to play Kinsmen Bingo with her family. She will be sadly missed by all of us and she will always and forever be in our hearts. God Bless our sweet mother.
Ethel is survived by her daughters, Cammy (Konrad Haumering) Tibbo, Spectacle Lakes, Deloris (Michael Smith) Tibbo, Fall River, Trina Tibbo, Lunenburg, sons, Edward Northwest, and Roy (Melissa) Spectacle Lakes, grandchildren, Steven Creaser, Logan England, Jonathan Tibbo, Justin Turner, Shelby Williams, Sebastian Haumering, Rebecca Tibbo, Josie Tibbo and Crystal Dares; several great grandchildren; sisters, Una, Amy, Esther, Glenda and Anne and brothers, Arch, Aubrey, Will, Charles and John; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gordon, daughter, Joy Tibbo, and sisters, Elizabeth and Joan and brothers, Walt and Thomas.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, Lunenburg. A family service will be held on Thursday at 2PM at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Laura Marie Piotrowicz, officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church or to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
The family would like to thank Dr. Blaine Beaton and the nursing staff of the medical unit at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital for their exceptional care. Special thanks to nurses Dashia Hyson and Kevin Grandy who went above and beyond, mom thought the absolute world of you both and we are grateful for the love and compassion shown to both mom and to our family.
