Obituary
Ethel Mae (Robinson) Woodcock passed away May 5, 2021 at the age of 98 years.
Ethel was born April 12, 1923 at Alonsa, Manitoba. She was the fourth of ten children born to Agnes Elizabeth ‘Annie’ (Robertson) and Robert George Robinson. The family moved to a farm northeast of Bethany in the fall of 1923 and this is where Ethel grew up. She attended Bethany School and enjoyed playing baseball.
She married Stanley Raymond Woodcock on November 20, 1942. Their farm was west of Bethany and their home was an Eaton, white brick home, built in 1917 by Stanley’s father. They raised six children.
Ethel was a member of the Bethany Social Group, Happy Hearts, A.C.W. and the Red Cross. She also enjoyed curling. She worked in housekeeping at the Minnedosa Hospital and Care Home from 1973-1984.
Ethel was an excellent cook and no one ever left her home without a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. She always remembered baking a chocolate cake, with brown sugar icing, every day while the kids were in school.
Ethel was predeceased by her husband Stanley, grandson David; sisters: Minnie, Pearl (Clifford Madill), Phoebe (Jim Madill), Margaret (Oliver Price); brothers: Rob, William, and Allan. She is survived by her six children: Raymond (Kay), Diane Powell, Ken (Maxine), Wayne, Beverley (Denis Svanhill) and Rick (Teresa Hampton); twelve grandchildren: Kevin (Doris), Candace (Guy Turchinski), Jeff (Jasmine), Stephen, Amanda, Brad (Jen Wasko), Krista (Greg Farr), Dylan (Ashley Anderson), Heather (Derek Busch), Ian, Garett (Dominique), and Sarah (Chris); four great granddaughters: Janaea, Anna, Megan, and Adaline; sister Mary (Maurice Kingdon); brother Jim Robinson (June); and sister-in-law, Sylvia Robinson.
