HARKE, Erna (Nee: RODE)
February 6, 1944 ~ December 2, 2021
It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Erna Harke of Westlock, AB announce her passing on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at the age of 77 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Ben (Marvel) and daughter, Kathy; grandchildren Matthew Harke and Dawsyn Harke, sister Irma Radke and brother, Eric Rode, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her sister, Lydia Rode; brother, Otto Rode; sister, Toni Rode; and her parents: Ferdenand and Milanda (Aberhart) Rode.
Erna was born in Krumbach, Poland in 1944 and came to Canada with her family in 1946. The family settled in the Manola area where they farmed. Erna loved her life on the farm where she had a huge garden and cared for many animals. Erna was well known for her love of canning and was a regular face at many farmer’s markets in the area.
A private memorial service will be held at the family’s request.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made in Erna’s name to AHS Westlock Healthcare Auxiliary Society, 10220-93 Street, Westlock, AB. T7P 2G4.
The family wishes to send a special thank-you to the staff at the Westlock Healthcare Centre. Your caring and support for Mom was appreciated and will always be remembered.
