Obituary
Emily went peacefully home to the Lord on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
The youngest of 11 children, she grew up in a loving family on a farm in Ituna, Saskatchewan. Her career with the Royal Bank took her across the prairie provinces where she made many lifelong friends. Emily cherished her Saskatchewan roots, and her home was filled with tiger lilies and prairie scenes. A highlight of Emily’s life was travelling to Europe with her brother Frank, his wife Mary and their young family visiting the sites and most especially, Lourdes. In 1961 Emily moved to Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan to work and help her brother Ted in raising his children. After a few years, she was back to Calgary again.
Emily cared deeply for her parents, her many siblings and their families, her church community and her community at large. She volunteered extensively at the church, sang with her lovely alto voice in several choirs, volunteered at the Goodwill, golfed the Calgary courses and still made the trip back to Saskatchewan to visit her parents yearly.
Emily is survived by her brother Ted, age 96 of Olds, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Her jovial attitude, delicious perogies, and endless kindness will be dearly missed.
A private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 11:00am. Live stream of the mass can be viewed via the link below.
Special thanks to the caring staff at Southwood Care Centre in Calgary.
