It is with much love and profound sadness that we say goodbye to our loving wife, mother, and yaya, Elsie. Elsie was born in Loreburn Saskatchewan in April of 1941 and passed away peacefully in Edmonton on October 21st, 2021 at the age of 80. She was surrounded by family in her time of passing, which meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of being loved by her.
Elsie is lovingly remembered by her wonderful husband of 62 years, Ernie Wedel. Her children, Ed(Heather), Ellis(Laurel), and Elli(Vince); Grandchildren, Melissa(Josh), Holly(Jake), Mickayla, Stephen, Sarah, Timothy, Matthew, Bethany, Faith, Jesse, and Micah; Great-grandchildren Rachel, Jackson, and Lily; siblings, Dolores Williams, Joe Olson(Care), and Terry Olson(Jeanne).
She was predeceased by her parents Maynard and Laura Olson, and her brother Dale.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her sister Dolores, and the palliative care team at the Grey Nuns Hospital for taking such great care of Elsie during her illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Elsie’s honor directly to the Cross Cancer Institute at 11560 University Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 1Z2
a Graveside service will take place at Our Savior Cemetery in Hay Lakes, Alberta at 2:00pm on Sunday October 24, 2021, all are welcome to join us in laying Elsie to rest.
A memorial service will take place at a later date at McKernan Baptist Church. Date and time to be announced.
