ELLA TYMOSZCZUK
April 6, 1914 – May 8, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ella Tymoszczuk, beloved wife of the late Sam Tymoszczuk, at the remarkable age of 107 years.
Ella was lovingly known as Baba to all who knew her. She will be missed by her daughter Helen (Laurence), and Helen’s children Wesley, Becky, Loren, Tara, and great-grandchildren, Darcy, Marina, Breanne, and Cole, son Lawrence (Joan), their children Sandra, Shelley, David, and great-grandchildren Andrew and Madeline.
Ella was predeceased by her parents, Cyril and Mary Baziniak, her husband Sam, her daughter Anne, 7 siblings, and son-in-law John Zaleski.
Ella grew up in Shorncliff, MB. During one of our cold prairie winters she met Sam, who was trapping with her brother Mike. They married in 1934 and raised their family in Progress, MB where they farmed for 54 years. Ella was a homesteader in the truest sense of the word. She milked cows by hand, stacked hay with a pitch fork in the fields, and tended a huge garden to feed her family. She sometimes did some inventive baking and cooking, but she preferred to be outdoors tending her gardens and enjoying her flowers.
She lived in her marital home until the age of 103 before moving to a care home. During those years she enjoyed a multi-generational household, helping to raise Lawrence and Joan’s children like her own. Ella was a strong woman when she needed to be. Always having practical advice, she would inspire her family to do the right thing.
We would like to thank the staff at Arborg Personal Care Home for their devoted attention and care, her doctor, and Father Harry Chuckry for guidance. A private service has taken place.
