It is with great sadness, the family of Elizabeth Pauline Kelly (Marsh) announces her peaceful passing at the Miraquinn Hilltop Manor in her hometown of Hickman’s Harbour, Random Island, Newfoundland on Friday, October 8, 2021 at the age of 71.
Elizabeth was born on July 30, 1950 in Hickman’s Harbour, Random Island, to parents William and Doreen Marsh (deceased) and were married in Hickman’s Harbour and then moved there from Deer Harbour with her husband following government resettlement in 1967 where she has lived happily ever since. Before retirement, Elizabeth was a proud fisherwoman and active community member and always loved to help her neighbours, family and friends however possible.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Andrew James Kelly and brothers Charlie, Robert, Derek and Doug, and brothers in-law George and Ross.
Left to mourn are daughters Pauline (Robert), Patsy (Ronnie), Pamela (Clifford) and Paulette (Shannon); special grandchildren Krista (Brian), Joshua, Nathan (Mary), Nicholas (Kiara), Johnathen (Nicole), Kyle (Danielle), Owen (Amber), Tyler, Allison (Jaden), Josh and Jenna; great-grandson Elijah; siblings Donald, Audrey, Carol, Brenda (Larry), Lynn and Brian; siblings-in-law Norman (May), Dulcie (Matthew), Margaret (Len), Scott (Debbie), Melvin (Loretta), Mary (Walter), Jean (Randolph), Evelyn (Gary), Wanda (Tom) and Glynis (Sherman). She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Elizabeth was an active member of the United Church Women of the Hickman’s Harbour parish and loved spending time with the women through their fellowship, trips and dinners. She was an active volunteer in the community, especially with the breakfast program at Random Island Academy. A special thanks to Glynis, Mary and Inez for all of their visits to Elizabeth in the past few years to be with her in her final time.
Elizabeth loved her grandchildren most of all and all of the special time she spent with them over the years. Her door was always open to her family and she went above and beyond to help care for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed knitting, baking, attending church, country music, live theatre and travelling to visit family and friends across Canada. She was a quiet, selfless, humble person who most-of-all loved to laugh.
The family would like to thank the whole staff at Miraquinn Hilltop Manor, especially Kim Hansford, for their above and beyond loving care of Elizabeth during her time there. We value that you cared for her like family and will never be able to show our gratitude for everything that you did to make her live her last days surrounded by the things and people she loved most.
