Elizabeth Louise (Betty) Wilson
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Elizabeth Louise (Betty)
Wilson of Amherst, Nova Scotia on March 20, 2021 at
home with her daughter and granddaughter by her side. Born in Saint
John, New Brunswick she was the daughter of the late Andrew T. and
Eileen (McAuley) Moore.
Moving to Amherst in 1942, she attended
St. Charles School and went on to graduate from St. Charles Business
school. Through the years she was employed by the Bank of Nova Scotia,
the Maritime Lumber Bureau and Tantramar Motors Ltd. where she worked
alongside her late husband. She was a woman of strong faith and a
member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. Her various interests
included serving in many offices of the Amherst Skating Club, later
becoming Chairman of the Nova Scotia Section of the Canadian Figure
Skating Association. She was a past member of the Cumberland Regional
Hospital’s Ladies Auxiliary, St. Charles Finance Committee
and served as Regent of Lord Amherst IODE. She was also an ardent
supporter of the Fatima Center in Fort Erie, Ontario. She enjoyed her
cottage (The Bay House), tole painting, writing daily in her journal,
listening to music, singing and baking her famous tea biscuits among
other delights that her friends and family
loved.
She was predeceased by her husband
Delbert Mills Wilson and her daughter, Deborah Maxine; sister, Colleen
M. MacDonald of Maine, USA; brother, Andrew E. (Drew) Moore of Amherst
and nephew Glenn G. MacDonald of Maine, USA.
She will be sadly missed by her
daughter, Cindy (David) Dunnet; grandson, Matthew (Jenny);
granddaughter, Caroline and fiancé Michael Libis, all of
Mississauga, Ontario; a sister-in-law, Helen Moore, of Amherst;
nieces, Linda Cooper, Colleen Chisholm (Alex Viduk) of Amherst,
Chandra Sheehan of New Hampshire and Lisa (Michael) Roche of Maine,
USA; nephews, Drew (Charlene) Moore of Amherst, and Andrew (Jennifer)
Clarke of Halifax who were always lending helping hands especially at
The Bay House along with other grandnieces, grandnephews and
cousins.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted
to Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
St., Amherst, (902-667-8777). Due to the current Covid-19
restrictions, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass
will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 09, 2021 at Holy Family
Roman Catholic Church, Amherst, with Father Charles Offor officiating.
Pre-registration is required, please call or
email the funeral home to do so. Burial at
St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery in the spring.
Family flowers only. Donations to the
Canadian Juvenile Diabetes Association, the VON, or a charity of the
donor’s choice.
