Lewis, Elizabeth (nee Morley)
Elizabeth was born on 14th February in Cambridge, England passed away of a Stroke on Monday 11th October in Trail Regional Hospital, BC. Her husband Douglas was by her side and they were supported their close friends.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Douglas, her children Kathryn and partner Tom, Iain and his partner Emma, her grandchildren Jude and Audrey and brothers John and Richard.
Elizabeth was active in the Fruitvale community and Deacon of the Anglican Church of Canada. She trained as a nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, and worked as staff nurse, head nurse, then nurse manager. She travelled widely and, after moving to Canada in 1967, she nursed in several places, including at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver. At Christ Church Cathedral in Vancouver, she met and married Douglas Lewis in 1970. They moved to England, and returned to Canada in 1996. Elizabeth was ordained Deacon at St. Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral in Nelson by Archbishop David Crawley, on October 16, 2004, along with several other ordinations for the mutual ministry teams in the West Kootenay, including Douglas Lewis who was ordained Priest, at the same service.
A Memorial Service will be held on 12th November at St Andrew’s Church, Trail led by Bishop Lynne McNaughton at 11:00.
