Eleanor R. MacNeill
1939-2021
« What a beautiful
difference one life
made. »
Suddenly at home on Monday May 3, 2021 of Eleanor R. MacNeill
of Cavendish aged 82 years. Born in Kensington,
March 15, 1939 daughter of the late J. Roy and Verna M. (Cousins)
MacArthur. Cherished wife for 62 years to Alvin
MacNeill. Beloved mother of Douglas (Toronto), Kevin
(Heather), and Garth (Donna) MacNeill. Loving Grannie of
Lance (Emilie), Mikaela (Alex Kelly), Janaya, Spencer and Morgan
MacNeill. Dear sister of Marion Millar (Gerald deceased), Marjorie
(Sam) MacKay and Bradford-deceased (Dianne) MacArthur and
sister-in-law of Eric (Norma) MacNeill. Also survived by many nieces
and nephews.
Eleanor loved her home in beautiful Cavendish. She treasured
her time with family and friends. Alvin and Eleanor opened their home
and hearts to many loved ones from around the world. Family,
friends and guests made many memories in her kitchen sitting around
her dining room table. Special family friends, Bob and Donna and Kathy
and Mary have returned summer after summer for over 40 years to spend
family time with the MacNeills at Parkview Farms Tourist Home.
Eleanor was a wonderful ambassador, representing the tourism
industry of Prince Edward Island for over 60 years. She was
dedicated in ensuring that visitors and summertime neighbors always
had a « home away from home »
experience.
Eleanor loved her church and her community. She was a devoted
UCW member and church organist of Cavendish United Church. She was
instrumental in welcoming new community members and served in many
capacities with the Cavendish Women’s Institute. She will be missed at
the annual strawberry socials, pancake breakfasts, and community
potlucks. Her friends will miss her at her winter
card parties and they will certainly miss her sense of
humour.
Eleanor’s devotion was first and foremost with her soulmate,
Alvin and their dairy farm, her sons, daughter in laws and her
grandkids. She loved to host, to cook, to shop and visit springtime
yard sales. The grandkids loved to raid her cookie jar, spend time
playing games with her and listen to her stories.
Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington. Due
to Covid 19 restrictions, no public visitation can be held.
A private funeral service will be available to view
online on the funeral home’s website after 2 p.m.
on Friday. Interment in The Cavendish Cemetery. If
so desired contributions may be made to The Cavendish Cemetery Fund or
Diabetes Canada.
