Eleanor Mary Meg Parr February 21 1929 December 14 2021

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Meg was born in Victoria to Cyril and Mamie (nee Snowsell) Jones and grew up in Fairfield with her adored siblings Peter and Pam, who were 11 and 8 when Meg was born. She was a well loved little girl with many friends of all ages. It was not a wealthy home but it was full of happiness, laughter, and love. Peter, Pam, and Meg wrote a book for the family about their life growing up together which is full of adventure and fun, along with the hardships of the depression and the war years.
Meg left Victoria in 1952 to travel to England and meet her Jones and Snowsell relatives. She planned to stay a couple of years but settled into British life after meeting and marrying Antony Parr and starting a family. In late 1957, Meg and Tony returned to Canada with their daughters and settled in Victoria and then North Vancouver. Three sons joined the family and they bought a home on Osborne Road, where Tony and Meg have lived to this day. It was happily very close to Peter and Pam and their families and we remember many happy years with aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby. Meg and Tony also enjoyed their cabin on the ocean at Denman Island, where Meg planted and nurtured an amazing garden. Many happy family times were spent there together.
Meg and Tony were happily married for more than 67 years and were rarely apart. Their love was deep and true and a good example for all of us. Meg was a great support to Tony and a dedicated homemaker. She was also a very talented artist. Much of her weaving fills their home and there was often a sewing or knitting project on the go. Many have received and treasured her hand drawn cards and stories. Meg was an exceptionally wonderful mother, dedicated to her children and grandchildren and always available. She embodied unconditional love and was an oasis of calm. She was fun-loving and creative and loved to laugh.
Meg had Alzheimer’s disease for the last number of years and she steadily lost so much of herself, but she never lost her sweet loving nature. And she had Tony by her side, holding her hand until the end.
Meg was predeceased by her parents and by her siblings, Peter (Eleanor) and Pam (Adrian). She is survived by her husband, Tony, and by her 5 children Caroline [Peter], Gillian (Dan), Richard (Dana), Michael (Carolyn), and Andrew (Robin). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; Colleen (Jackson), Ben (Haifa), Teresa (Michael), Andrew (Amanda), Antony, Emilia, Rachel, Sam, Nathan, Megan, Sarah, Lauren, Kindar, Guy, Emily, Nicholas, and Antony and by 8 great-grandchildren; Arden, Zaid, Owen, Lachlan, Kaia, Alice, Eli, and Skylar and by many nieces and nephews. She is dearly missed by us all and lives on inside of us.
