ELLA EILEEN (ROGERS) EMBERLEY, age 81 (May 8, 1940), passed away on November 22, 2021, at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre. Her earthly pain and suffering have ended, and the time has come to depart peacefully. Predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William (2013), daughter Winnie Bell (1970-76), and parents Fredrick and Edna Rogers.
Eileen is survived by her loving family: children, Gina (Chesley) Shave; Donna Emberley; Marcus (Karen) Emberley; Wilf (Rhonda) Emberley; and partner Jim Mallay. Loved also by her eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Eileen is also survived by three siblings Carrie Stuckless, Reuban (Violet) Rogers, and Gerald (Donna) Rogers; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.
Eileen was born and spent her early childhood in Creston South, NL. At the age of 9, she moved with her family to Deer Lake and Cormack. At age 17, she returned to Creston South. Eileen always treasured the great memories of the people and events of her childhood. As a young woman, she ventured into the world of educating, positively impacting many children as a schoolteacher. Eileen retired from teaching at age 26 and became a business owner and operator, with a local convenience store, home-style bakery, and of course, her beloved knitting and crochet. Her love for the people of her community compelled her to serve in many ways, from hospital auxiliary, Elections Canada, and her church.
Known to be a hard worker who earned the respect of her peers, Eileen’s life proved more than just work. She enjoyed spending time with her family, board games, checkers, art, camping, berry picking, and the computer. Her work ethic, creativeness, and fearless attitude to try new things have been admired by many.
Eileen remains an inspiration and example to many. She was a wonderful mom and nan and will be forever loved and missed!
John 3:16, « For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life ».
