On Wednesday, November 3, 2021, we lost my sister, Eileen, after a long battle with Scleroderma.
Eileen was a strong woman whose will and faith was extraordinary. Even though she faced many adversities in her life, she never complained. She would always say, “This is the way it is and there is nothing that can be done to fix it, so you just have to live with it”.
Eileen was a special aunt to her nieces, Courtney, Erica, Janet, Piney and Vicki, who were like her own children.
After graduating from Business College, Eileen worked as a telephone operator in Louisbourg. She also worked for Irving Oil, WH Phillip and Son Ltd. For the last several years, she worked for the Fortress of Louisbourg Volunteer Association, managing the gift shop, before having to retire due to her illness. She was also a long time member of the United Church Women.
Eileen was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert; parents, Phillip and Wilma Baker; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Naomi Anderson; brother, Charles; and niece, Vicki.
Eileen is survived by her brother, Brent (Joanne); brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Victor and Mildred and Phil and Audrey; aunt and uncle, Iris and Earl, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at First United Church in Louisbourg on Sunday, November 7, 2021, from 1-2:30 p.m. followed by a service in the church at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Emily Duggan officiating. Interment will take place in Willow Grove Cemetery, Louisbourg.
Memorials may be made to Scleroderma Society of Nova Scotia.
