Taylor, Edith Louise « Edie » –
84, Truro. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of
our Mum/Nannie at Wynn Park Villa, Truro on June 25,
2021. Born in Truro, Mum was one of 13 children of the late
Lorne and Ada MacCallum. She worked briefly as a telephone
operator before she married Bert Taylor and became a stay at home Mum
to their children Cathy, Lorna and Darrell. Most of their married
life, Mum and Dad resided in Onslow Mountain. In early years Mum also
sewed for people, knit sweaters for a local retail store, and did some
babysitting for relatives. She was an immaculate housekeeper
and a great cook, but most of all, an awesome Mum and
Nannie. She was most happy when her kids and grandkids were
in her company, or she was having them over for a meal. Mum also found
great enjoyment over the years when participating in senior games,
bowling, playing cards or Phase 10, or just running the roads. She
made many friendships over the years – mostly notably of the
last number of years, her good friend, Vi Lynds. Mum was
easy-going, very quiet, and shy by nature. We were so proud of her for
the strength and courage she showed in making a life for herself after
Dad’s passing. We will miss her dearly. Mum is
survived by her children, Lorna (Paul) Weatherby, Bible Hill, and
Darrell Taylor (Tina Parsons), Truro; grandchildren, Jennifer
Weatherby, Bible Hill; Joshua Fulton (Kelly Lynn Kirk), Sydney; Darci
Fulton, Halifax; Pamela Halkett (Geoff), of Wainwright, Alberta;
Garrin Rushton, Pugwash; Samantha Taylor, Truro; son-in-law, Randy
Fulton (Doris), Lower Sackville; great-grand child, Hayden Halkett,
Wainwright. Mum’s surviving siblings are: Murray
MacCallum, Elsie Mortensen (Austin), Doris Baird (Allan), Elmer
MacCallum (Ellen), Wayne MacCallum (Marg), David MacCallum (Norma),
Bruce MacCallum, and Shirley MacCallum. She is also survived by many
nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mum was predeceased by her husband of 51
years, Bert Taylor; daughter, Cathy Fulton; grandson, Adam Weatherby;
siblings, Clarence MacCallum (Sharon), Alice MacCallum, Lily Pyke
(George), June Yuill (Warren); sisters-in-law, Elaine, Irma MacCallum,
and Susan MacCallum. No visitation by request. A
graveside service will take place on Friday, July 2, 2021at 10:30 am,
in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley. (Due
to Covid-19 restrictions, a maximum of 75 people can attend the
graveside service; this number may increase if restrictions are eased.
Masks must be worn and physical distancing will apply. We would be
more than happy to greet those in attendance, however, respectfully
request no handshakes or hugs.) Donations in memory may be made to
charity of your choice. Due to health issues, Mum lived at
Wynn Park for the last two and a half years; we sincerely thank Sheila
Peck and all of the staff at Wynn Park for the kindness and awesome
care. Also, special thanks to Nannie Pat (MacLellan) for your kindness
and care shown to Mum. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall –
