Dutcy passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2021 at St. Joseph Hospital Hamilton, Ontario. She was born on October 17th, 1939 in Trinidad and Tobago to Vincent and Lovenia Inniss as one of eight children to the couple. As a very young child, she was adopted by Joseph and Evelina Francois.
After doing well in school, she moved to England in 1962 and began her lifelong career in nursing. Dutcy absolutely loved being a Nurse and helping other people. She did her RN training in London England, then trained as a Midwife and neonatal Nurse at Marston Green Maternity Hospital in Warwickshire, England. In 1968 Dutcy moved to Canada where she settled and lived the rest of her life. Upon her arrival in Canada, she worked at what was then called Henderson General Hospital. Dutcy loved travelling and did so frequently. She went to enjoy Carnival in Trinidad and loved listening to her Calypso music and dancing.
Her siblings include the late Marjorie Inniss-Baird, Elsa Innis-Newton, Henry Inniss, Edward Inniss, Lennox Inniss and Kenneth Inniss. She is survived by her brother Noel Inniss of Canada, her sister, Shelia Inniss-Phillip of New York and Carol Francois Crenshaw of Trinidad along with 37 nieces and nephews in various countries. Dutcy was a kind, giving, humorous and loving lady and will be missed by everyone who ever knew her.
Private family arrangements entrusted to Bay Gardens Funeral Home, Hamilton (905-574-0405). Due to pandemic restrictions, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will happen at a later date.
