Obituary of Dorothy Joyce Rice
Rice, (Cummings) Dorothy Joyce – 92, passed away May 10, 2021 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born October 16, 1928, in Clarence, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Gladys (Mailman) Marshall. Dorothy was a member of the First United Baptist Church of Annapolis Royal and of their choir as well as a member of the Baptist Church Apple Blossom Club, Annapolis Royal Drama Guild. For many years was an active Girl Guide Leader. Dorothy was an excellent seamstress, making many clothes in her years. She was a fabulous cook and loved to play Bridge. Dorothy was a wonderful mother to her children, making sure they all had a wonderful life growing up.
She is survived by children, Brian (Debby) Cummings, Granville Ferry, Linda (Rodney) McCaul, Delaps Cove, Susan (Natalie) Cummings, Port Wade, Sandra Doucette, Black Rock; daughter in-law, Donna Cummings, Annapolis Royal; grandchildren, Scott, Tasha, Bruce, David, Lisa, Steven, Sally, Sarah, Barrie, and Cassie; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Barrie Cummings; second husband, Larry Rice; son, Randy Cummings; daughter, Shelia Cummings; grandson, Nicholas Doucette; great granddaughter, Jaylyn Layton; sister, Marion; brothers, Allan and George. Cremation has taken place under the care and the direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, a funeral service will be held at a later date.
