Obituary of Dorothy Jean Hartley
Hartley, Dorothy Jean
Dorothy passed away suddenly on March 6th, 2021 at University Hospital, London in her 90th year, a life well lived. Loving wife of the late Calvin (2010). Predeceased by her parents Alton and Jean Anderson and siblings Ken, Helen and Grace. Beloved mother to Bob, Pat and Sandy Hartley. Grandmother to Leah James, Kendra and Jeremy Giles, Brooke and Justin Ronan and Blane Hartley. Great grandmother to Malachi and Samuel Giles. Dorothy greatly appreciated the help from neighbours Ivan and Mary-Joe, friend Kelly, and as well as many others in the community.
Dorothy was long involved in the community of Watford. She and Calvin owned the Steadmans store for many years, Dorothy took pride in her roles as chairperson and parade marshal of many Santa Clause parades. She was instrumental in “Lighting” up Watford at Christmas. Dorothy was also proud of serving as chairperson of the Watford Friendship Centre and the organization of many Cornfests over the years. She was humbled by her nomination of « Citizen of the Year » as well as being a recipient of the Confederation of Canada’s 125th medal. Dorothy loved cards and will be dearly missed.
A special thank you to the wonderful care she received from the Doctors and Nurses on the CCU unit at University Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and donations may be made at www.watfordfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF WATFORD. 519 876-2218
