It is with great sadness that the family of Mrs. Dorothy Lee Stalberg announce her passing on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the age of 89 years. Dorothy was born to Gerald and Rosalie Sherrow and was raised and attended School in Halbrite, Saskatchewan. On April 18, 1949, Dorothy married Edward Robert Stalberg in Halbrite, Saskatchewan. They were married for fifty-nine years before Ed’s passing in 2008. They sought many opportunities and lived in Midale, Weyburn, Ralph, Regina, and Sturgis in Saskatchewan; Winnipeg; Calgary; and Kelowna and Comox, BC. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and keeping a lovely home; and she could grow the most beautiful dahlias. Dorothy enjoyed curling and many outdoor adventures like camping, hunting, snowmobiling and she loved fishing with Ed, on the lakes and ocean. In Kelowna, she worked as a long term care aide. In Comox, she also volunteered for many organizations like St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, the Ukrainian Cultural Society and the Royal Canadian Legion. Dorothy spent much of her life dedicated to raising her family and assisting her husband in his business endeavours. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Robbie (Gary) Burma, Rebbie (Craig) Masley and Mia (Lyn) Chorney; her grandchildren, Amber Burma, Nicole Burma, Caitlin Burma, Jon Masley, Lorissa Draus, Jessalynn Masley, Kaylee Bowyer, and Alysha Chorney; and her great grandchildren, Ambryn Draus, Axton Draus, and Asher Gagnon. She will also be sadly missed by her three sisters and her brother, Edith Dorsch, Phyllis Sonnenberg, Gae Gall, and Lyle Sherrow; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Rosalie Sherrow, her husband, Ed, her sisters, Margaret (Albert) Cugne and Ruth (Raymond) Cugnet, a brother, Donald Sherrow; her brothers-in-law, Robert Dorsch, Albert Cugnet, Raymond Cugnet and a sister-in-law, Marlene Sherrow. A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at a later date in Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Dorothy’s honor may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta at www.alzheimer.ca or a charity of the Donor’s choice.
