Mom passed away of natural causes peacefully in her own home in her 91st year with her daughters by her side. She was known to all who knew her by her signature greeting of « Hi Love ». A courageous little Irish lassie born in Belfast Northern Ireland. She had a big heart and was generous, kind and thoughtful with a great sense of humour. She met our dad when he was stationed in Ireland during his service in the Navy. They married in 1947 and she immigrated to Canada the following year. At the age of 15 she apprenticed for, and became an accomplished tailoress by trade. She was also a master at knitting, drawing, calligraphy, quilting, painting and toll art. There was nothing she wouldn’t try and achieve and she adorned us with gifts of her beautiful crafted creations. She loved us all dearly and we have been fortunate to have had her with us for this length of time. Her legacy will live on in those she leaves behind – Ron Magurie (Brenda), Lynne Sherwin (Bruce), John Maguire (Jean), Martin Maguire (Donna) and Lorraine Harnden (Rob), 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. We are comforted in knowing that she is reunited with those who passed before her. Beloved wife of the late William « Bill » Maguire, daughters Bonita Maguire-Wamsley, Cheryl Turk and her husband Brian. We would like to thank St. Elizabeth Palliative Care nurses for their kindness and care shown to Mom over the past 5 months and to MacCoubrey Funeral Home for their professionalism and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family asks that those who would like to make a donation in memory of Mom to please do so to the Lions Club of Cobourg, a club she and Dad were very active members of. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at Cobourg Union Cemetery.
