Doris Anne McDonald
Sydney Mines
We would like to announce the passing over to Eternal Life of Doris Anne McDonald on March 6, 2021. Doris was born on Nov. 26, 1942 to parents John and Mary McDonald of Atlantic St., Sydney Mines. She is survived by her four children – Raylene (Tom) Barnhill, Cathy Davey (Jack Bienkowski), Paul Jessome and Glenn Jessome. Anyone who befriended Doris was certainly made aware of the great depth of Love which her heart contained for her off spring. Survived also by seven Grandchildren, precious gems, Michelle (Jared) MacFadgen, Marie (Taylor) Osmun, Brett Barnhill (Natalie), Michael Barnhill (Joli), Skylar Jessome, Petra Jessome and Julia Jessome – and one great grandchild, Rachel Osmun.
Doris is also survived by her siblings, each one with a very special place in her heart, whom she loved dearly. Sisters Irene Polkowski, Christina (Paul) Brown, Marian (Tommy) Turner; Brothers Angus (Julie), Andrew, John (Nathalie), Leonard, and Michael (Daniela).
Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her older sister Marguerite and Baby Sisters Lorraine and Mary.
Doris had a special affection for her many community friends in California. A special thank you goes out to Northside Home Care for such Love, Compassion, caring and companionship for the past 7 years of the journey. And a special thank you to Sheri.
During the past 30 years Doris enjoyed the prayer life and fellowship of the Charismatic Renewal, the Sunday Evening Prayer Group of then St. Pius X Parish, also the Marian Movements in the Church and the Rosary Groups in her home. She has been an active member of both St. Joseph’s Parish in North Sydney and Holy Family Parish in Sydney Mines. Remembering all of them with a thankful heart and thanking God for all the many blessings in life.
Doris always had a keen ability to pick out hearts wherever she was. To her it was a manifestation of God’s love. During her time on palliative care she was surrounded by many hearts and the great love of family, friends and special nurses and staff. Thank you to all who loved her well. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. A private Mass of Christian burial was held at Holy Family Church Sydney Mines.

“God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgement, because as He is , so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”
