Obituary
Donald Robert McLeod, late of Weyburn, SK passed away January 14, 2021 at the age of 85 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Kathleen McLeod; sister-in-law, Louise McLeod; and his brother-in-law, Maurice Reed.
Donnie is survived by his long time companion, Lea VanDeSype; her family; his siblings: Allan McLeod, Marjorie Reed, Glen McLeod (Lois) and Norman McLeod (Carol); as well as many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Donnie was born on the family farm, and the farm was always the place he loved to be. Although he was a farmer, his primary interest was raising livestock. Donnie had a special affection for his horses, namely Cheyanne, and feeding her apples through the living room window at the old house is a fond memory.
Whenever there was a community event in the “Hills,” Donnie was sure to attend. As a young man, there wasn’t a dance that he didn’t attend. He was a good neighbour and always lent a helping hand. His farm was where the family congregated and the kids rode motorbikes and horses, drove tractors, and roamed the hills. He adored the many grandchildren and was a proud fan at hundreds of their sporting events including hockey and baseball. He had a big love for antique John Deere tractors and machinery. He rebuilt many of them but the JD 420 Crawler was a favourite. Besides the real thing, he also had a large collection of John Deere toys.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Donnie holds a special place in the hearts of his family, and all those who knew him. He was quick to smile and share a secret. He loved life no matter what it threw at him and we loved him.
He was truly one of a kind, and we will miss him dearly. Rest in peace Donnie…love from all of your family and friends.
