Don was born and raised in Vernon BC. He worked hard on the family orchard and loved spending time there. He moved to Burnaby and attended BCIT. Don was employed as an accountant for years at Johnson Terminal(s), Super Save Gas, Gray Beverage (PEPSI) and Trylon TSF. Don found his « family » home in Langley BC and together with Cheryl raised their four children. We spent a lot of time in Vernon before Dad died, Don loved his time there and time spent with his siblings. Don was full of love for his family and instilled that value in his children. Don loved to watch TV, especially cooking, history & national geographic. Don loved spending time in his garden, in recent years we had our garden in containers on the deck!
Don always had a love for food & cooking and passed that passion on to his children.
Don loved to bowl and curl in his younger years, and he was good at it too.
Don was a kind and gentle soul and always had « life lessons » to share with his children.
Dons biggest joy was time spent with Cheryl, his children and all his grand children brought a smile to his face, and encouraged him to carry on.
Don was so grateful to his brother Richard for donating a kidney to him in 2013, which added 8 plus years to be with his family.
The family wishes to thank Quesnel home support for the respite they provided for Don. In particular Wendy & Amanda. The family extends our heartfelt thanks to Dr Joseph Obanye for the support & care of Don. We are grateful to Clayton’s Funeral home and specifically Ken Zacharias for all his help and guidance during this extremely difficult time.
If anyone has the desire, donations can be made to Canadian Diabetes in his honour, no service at this time.
Don has gone fishing!!
RIP Donnie -Boy xo
