CARTER, Donald Robert
Passed away peacefully at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice on October 4th, 2021, at the age of 87.
Preceded in death by his first wife Dolores, his mother Mary, father Morley and brother Richard. Survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Lynn Merle Carter.
Dedicated to his family, Don will be lovingly remembered by his children Owen (Ellen), Colleen (Peter), Elizabeth (Mark), Patricia (Gordon), Kristine (Mark), Scott (Andrea), Grant (Adele), and grandchildren Eric, Stephanie (Michael), Christina (Patrick), Alexander, Anthony (Natalie), Khala (Michael), Andrew (Bailey), Amber (Angus), Aidan, Eliotte, Dylan, Airlie, Marley and Graham, his great grandchildren Gavyn and Lilianna, and his beloved dog Takota.
Don served the City of Burlington for many years in various roles including hydro electric commissioner and alderman, was reeve of the Municipality of Whitestone, and was instrumental in the establishment of the Whitestone Nursing Station there. Early in his teaching career, Don inspired his high school students to lobby the City of Burlington to declare an Environmental Week and challenged local community groups to embrace environmental projects in their neighbourhoods. Having been a spiritual man all his life, Don committed his life to Christ in February 2020 and was baptised in August 2020.

Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Friday October 8th, 2021 between 1:00 and 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Ontario SPCA would be greatly appreciated by the family.
