Survived by her grandchildren, Michelle, Andre, Justin (wife Tracy) Malette-Larcher, Daniel, Mireille Leblanc (husband Eric) and Marquise and great grandchildren, Sean, Tyler, Samuel, Isabelle, Mark and Felix. Dolores was the sixth eldest of ninth siblings and the daughter of the late Noe (Dolores Beaulieu) St-Georges. Dolores is predeceased by her siblings Leonard (wife Cecile) St-Georges, Emerancia Lapierre (husband Joseph), Lorian St-Georges, Diane Beausoleil (husband Armand), Thesese Lacasse (husband Rejean), Denise Bock (survived by husband Jacques) and Leo-Paul (wife Heather predeceased) St-Georges. Survived by her sister Cecile Diamond (Frank predeceased).
Dolores was a devoted Roman Catholic and a member of the parish Ste. Marguerite D’Youville. Dolores and her husband Gabriel raised two children Suzanne and Richard who were their pride and joy. Dolores retired in 1984 after a long career in nursing to care for her ailing husband until his passing. Her nursing career commenced at the Sudbury General Hospital on the Pediatrics floor in early 1950’s and worked as a dedicated nurse for several years. She then put her nursing career on hold in order to get married and start a family. In the mid 1960’s she decided to return to nursing and worked at Pioneer Manor. At Pioneer Manor she was considered an outstanding caregiver and loved by her residents and co-workers. She was very proud of her accomplishments and was highly regarded for her work ethics by her superiors. She recalled one resident in particular (an older gentleman) who used to call her California because he said she was like “a ray of sunshine when she walks in the room in the morning. Her gentle smiles lighten the whole room”. In 1976 her employer at Pioneer Manor offered her a career advancement to return to Cambrian College to upgrade her nursing skills and to become a R.P.N. (Registered Practical Nurse) and specialize in long term disability care. She enjoyed collecting antiques, gardening and planting beautiful flowers around her house. Cooking and baking was also one of her passions. Discussing politics with family and friends were also one of her favorite things to do. You would find mother often sitting down listening to the parliament channel on tv and catching up on current political debates. Conversation were always lively to say the least around our kitchen table. She was a loyal liberal supporter all of her life. She also enjoyed spending her summer months at camp on Lake Nipissing with her daughter Suzanne (husband Richard) and son Richard (wife Diane) along with her grandchildren. She loved spending her time being surrounded by all of her grandchildren. The light of her “life” was always family. Maman will be greatly missed by all who loved her and remembered her as a person who did ordinary things extraordinary well. I would like to acknowledge to all the caregivers to my mother’s care while her stay in the hospital. The compassion given and the dignity rendered to my mother was exceptional. Special “Thank You” to Dr. Anthony Main (Cardiologist) and all the nurses and P.S.W.’s. You are all an exemplary to your professions.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a mass at Ste. Marguerite D’Youville will take place in the spring followed by a funeral procession to Valley East Cemetery were our mother’s ashes will be laid to rest beside our father Gabriel. Arrangements entrusted to Sudbury Park Lawn Cremation Services.
