Obituary of Dianne Elizabeth McMillan
Dianne passed away in an assisted death on the 24th day January, 2021 after almost 60 years of dealing with the challenges of Diabetes with courage and without complaint. She is survived by her husband Ron of sixty years, their daughters Heather and Jill (Hall) both of Toronto, her sisters Charlotte Holland of Huntsville and Pat Marett and Janet Lyons both of Marmora. Dianne was born in Bowmanville where she attended public school and high school, following which she trained as a Laboratory Technician at The Wellesley Hospital in Toronto. After graduation, she worked in the laboratory at Prudential Insurance until she and Ron moved to North Bay, where Ron began his legal practice. She then worked for many years at St. Josephs and the Civic Hospitals both as an employee and volunteer. Dianne’s greatest pleasure was looking after the girls where she put her skills as a seamstress and knitter to good use and later got much pleasure from her hobby as a quilter. She also enjoyed playing tennis and was an expert downhill skier spending weekends on the local hills and annual ski trips around North America. Her spare time in the summers was spent gardening at their home on Trout Lake and taking scenic boat cruises around the lake. Dianne’s good humour and kindness will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. It was Dianne’s wish that following these difficult times there would be a get together of family and friends to exchange memories at a date to be determined. The family wishes to thank Dr. Senior and Dr. Leckie for their kindness and help and Dr. Bowker for his many years of advice.
