Obituary of Diann « Dee » Rodger
Dee passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound, on November 5, 2021. Born in Toronto on November 12, 1933, Dee was just seven days shy of her 88th birthday.
Beloved wife of the late Jack Rodger (2010). Loved mother of Rodney Rodger (Jill) of Owen Sound and Caroline Draper (Rob) of Tara. Cherished Grandma of Andrea Mock (Cam) of Owen Sound, Josef Draper (Sherry) of Tara, Marley Hunting (Erich) of Elmvale, and Great Grandma Dee of Jackson and Addison Mock, Ella and Reed Draper, and Ariah and Hadley Hunting. Also missed by her sisters-in-law Marina Onclin of Saskatoon, and Muriel Coleman of Owen Sound. Also remembered by Kristi Kirkwood and Family, Terri Robertson and Family, dear friend Jim MacKay of Owen Sound, and by her nieces, nephews, friends and her extended relatives in Holland.
Predeceased by her parents Hubert and Verna Onclin, and her brothers Donald Onclin, and David Onclin (Rose).
After retiring from Bell Canada Dee returned to playing piano for the Happy Songsters, Forever Young Follies and the Silver Tones. Dee Loved to share her passion of music, singing and playing bringing such joy to others, she often would play for retirement homes providing the enjoyment of her music that also brought her much happiness.
A private memorial service to honour Dee’s life will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on her birthday, Friday, November 12, 2021, with Rev. Ed Hoekstra officiating. Although the service is private a video recorded version will be posted to Dee’s memorial webpage shortly thereafter. Private family interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound. Friends and family are welcome to a Come and Go Celebration of Dee’s life following the service at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Masks and proof of double covid vaccination are required to attend the Come and Go Celebration.
