Our community lost a remarkable member on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 when Diane Lines passed away in the Nelson hospital after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Diane was born January 27th, 1948 in Winnipeg, MB, the only daughter of Robert and Margaret Massier. Diane is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Bob, her brothers John (Hazel) Massier and Jim Massier, her grandchildren Kensington and Dallin, her three aunts (Maryalyce, Phyllis, and Cec), and numerous extended family members. Diane also leaves behind many dear friends in the community. Diane was predeceased by her son (Rob Graham; 2013), and her parents.
Diane started dating the love of her life in 1985. She and Bob were an idyllic pair, spending many hours quadding and enjoying the outdoors. She started her career at the Ministry of Highways in Cranbrook, spent time in 100 Mile, but then moved to Nelson in 1986 to be with Bob and got a position at the Ministry of Forests where she stayed until she retired, although it turned out retirement wasn’t for Diane. She went back to work for the City of Nelson for a few years.
Through her life Diane had many hobbies that occupied her time and allowed her to make many friends, including scrapbooking and card making. After retirement she was active in her church and as a member of the Kootenay Rhythm Dragons. Diane had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. Her energy and enthusiasm for life inspired all those she knew. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who met her.
We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and friends who cared for her through this time. A small private service will be held in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Diane Aileen Lines January 27 1948
