Dennis Henry of Milton, Ontario, a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at the age of 80. After several months of declining health, Dennis died peacefully with family by his side.
Dennis was born in Saint Ann, Jamaica, on September 30, 1940 to father Uriah and mother Inez Henry. The oldest of 10 children. He helped out on his family’s farm at an early age and later went on to work at a bakery in Kingston. His work ethic and desire to later care for his own family led him to immigrate to Ontario, Canada in the early 70’s.
Dennis is preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Lucille Iona Henry; children Dennard (his wife, Julia); Rowan (his wife, Tatiana); Tony; Noel; and Denese; grandchildren Danielle Renee; Caleb Gabriele; Davis Gabriele; Je’han; Kourtnee-Nichelle and other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will miss Dennis’ big warm smile, his kind, humble and gentle demeanor as well as his generous spirit. His love, concern and compassion for people was evident.
It wasn’t until he immigrated to Canada that Dennis began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was able to satisfy his thirst for spiritual truth. As his knowledge of Jehovah God grew so did his strong love and close relationship with his Creator. This led him to dedicate his life to God and was baptized February 27, 1988. He always said the best gift he could give his children was the opportunity to develop their own relationship with their Heavenly Father. Not only was Dennis a proud preacher of the good news of God but he was a doer of His Word. He remained faithful and loyal to Jehovah God to the end. “Although suffering through several health issues, Dennis’ faith and service to Jehovah never wavered,” his family commented. “All who knew him knew about his deep love for and faith in Jehovah God and future promises.”
A memorial service will be held on Zoom on October 2nd, 2021 at 2pm EDT.
