CHARLES (CHARLIE) PIERRE DEMOLDER
MAY 24 1942 – May 22 2021
Charlie has passed in his 79th year after a battle with lung cancer. Charlie was always the life of the party and seemed to know people everywhere he went. Charlie attended JF Ross high school in Guelph graduating in 1959. He went on to work in a number of factories, including, GE, Sinterings, Hall Foundry, Moldmet and Stackpole. He bought “Charlie’s Place”, the general store and post office in Ariss, with his young family, in the 1970’s. After returning to Guelph he worked for Guelph Transit for 12 years, where he became president of the union, and was the first one to retain that presidency after leaving as an employee. He began his own business as a handyman and ultimately moved to Brantford where he owned a furniture refinishing business called “The Strippers”, after which he worked at Crown Manufacturing. In Paris he owned and operated Paris Rentals for 5 years. He retired from CRS in 2009.
He was rarely seen without a book nearby; he was an avid reader of science fiction and fantasy. Bookshelves in his home overflowed. He also had a passion for classic cars and until his later years almost always had one he was working on. His woodworking included clock cases, doll furniture and other refinishing projects.
He is survived by wife Geraldine (Hamilton) Demolder, brother Hank Demolder, sister Elizabeth Hall (Gerald), his children Nadine Demolder and Michelle Topic (Alan), step-children Tim Caughill (Sue), Matthew Hamilton, and Alan Hamilton (Lesley), Grandchildren Dillon Fleming, Dalton Fleming, Martha Demolder-Boudreau (Kyle), Chase Topic, Molly and Sarah Caughill, Jacob, Althea, Degan and Tayden Hamilton, great grandson Kai Bulnes, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charlie is predeceased by his parents Frank and Martha Demolder, and recently by very close friends Toy Marsden and Bill Phipps.
